The Daiwa Castizm BR 25A is one of the incredible reels built on Daiwa’s revolutionary
Castizm concept.
Cast’izm takes the idea of a big pit carp and sea fishing reel and transforms it into
compact body. This process has broken new ground in terms of spool geometry, offering
a shallow spool taper that can cast distances to match the Basia.
It manages these incredible distances in a significantly smaller body, making it easier
and lighter to balance on your chosen surf caster or carp rod – as well as making it
easier to transport and store.
With an impressive 5.7:1 ratio, allowing for 107cm of line retrival with each handle turn,
this really is a distance performance machine.
Simply modifying the tried and tested big pit spool wasn’t enough for the likes of Daiwa,
however, and the brand has also worked hard to ensure that all of its revolutionary
technologies can perform superbly on this new spool design.
This includes the world renowned Bite ‘n’ Run, which has been completely remodelled
to perform effectively on the new compact reel. Bite ‘n’ Run operated using a
patented lever system that, when engaged, inhibits the drag on the reel allows
for complete free spooling.
This means that when a fish takes your bait it can bite and run with it, ensuring
a positive hook set. However, the second you pick up the handle the drag automatically
engages and Bite ‘n’ Run lever deactivates.
This is ideal for the angler who likes to target the biggest carp and saltwater species
as it reduces the risk of hook pulls and lost fish.
Cast’izm and Bite ‘n’ Run aren’t the only top end technologies featured on
the Daiwa Castizm BR 25A. The reel is also Mag Sealed – a technology inspired
by the team at NASA which completely waterproofs the internal reel mechanisms.
Mag Sealing the reel gives the reel a significantly longer, and smoother, life, as you
don’t have to worry about corrosive salt or grit damaging the vital internal parts.
